Burkart Academy

Overview

Burkart Academy is an intensive, four-day experience catering to high-level high school students and advancing college students. Participants will have the chance to perform in daily masterclasses and workshops guided by Burkart Artists, Carol Wincenc, Jim Walker, and Cathy Ransom-Karoly. Burkart Academy gives students the opportunity to perform and learn from the world’s finest flute instructors.

Over the course of Burkart Academy, each participant will perform in three masterclasses, one with each world-renowned teacher. Participants are also encouraged to attend the other masterclass sessions running concurrently during the day. The opportunity for private lessons with each teacher will also be available (scheduled independently of Burkart Academy, additional lesson fees apply).

Mock auditions will challenge participants to perform their prepared audition repertoire while receiving instant feedback from Burkart Academy Faculty members. Students will start the Burkart Academy experience on Thursday evening, October 24th, with an initial assessment, via mock audition. During the next two days, participants will attend daily seminars (ie. portfolio and application reviews), workshops, and masterclasses presented by Faculty members. Attendees will be given the opportunity to apply their newfound knowledge to Saturday and Sunday’s mock auditions with further feedback from Faculty members.

Burkart Academy is an intimate, friendly, and one-of-a-kind learning environment. Students will have personal interactions with Faculty members during mealtimes, throughout the day, and during all activities. This program seeks to give students in-depth and foolproof audition preparation and provides them with success in their upcoming musical endeavors.
